Cover Girl

So I'm really not sure what to make of the situation that just occurred. We were playing in Jenna's room, just goofing around and reading books and things, when I noticed Jenna was kind of curled up around the base of the fan. I looked over at her kind of puzzled. She was like, "Look how beautiful I am. You should take a picture." And she did look cute, so I was like okay and I went and got my camera. So here it is, her "beautiful" look. So I finish taking it and she says, "Ok, now I'm going to be serious." I'm like, "Um, okay."
So here is her "serious" face. Now I'm like okay, let's put the camera up, yada yada, and Jenna says, "No Mom! I still need to do my silky face." Me: ?????? What they hey is a "silky" face. I sure hope she doesn't mean a "sexy" face.
Anyway, here it is, whatever it means, her "silky" face. Now by this point I'm really starting to wonder where she has learned this and if perhaps, she has seen one to many Herbal Essence commercials. Finally, she tells, "Just one more mom, my kissing face."So by now I'm just laughing and laughing, I can hardly hold the camera still for a picture. What is wrong with this girl? I have some serious worries about her teenage years.
Oh, and I'm sure you can guess that Brooke was totally and completely jealous and had to have her own time in the spotlight. She called this her "cordy" face.

Sound Off

So I know there's still technically a day or so left in the Olympics, but really, all the good stuff has happened. I've been documenting my favorite Olympic moments from the past two weeks, but now it's your turn. Post a comment telling your favorite Olympic moment (I know, how can you choose just one?)

If the men's 4 x 100 relay team hadn't have had that amazing come from behind victory, the whole "Phelp's winning 8 golds" dream would have been crushed almost from the start. I loved this moment and especially the way it truly showed that Phelp's unbelievable accomplishment was not done without some amazing helps from his teammates.

Family Time Gone Right

You know how sometimes you have this great idea to do with your family but then, because of fighting, crying, tantrums, whining, pushing, biting, sassing...(you get the idea)...things do NOT go as you planned them and the "fun family event" turns into "please kill me and put me out of my misery." Well, today was not that day.

Lately, as a reward for Jenna being good during Sacrament Meeting and nursery, we've been letting her make cookies with Matt on Sunday afternoon. That had been going really well the past month or so, and today I decided to take it one step further. We made sugar cookies and then decorated them together as a family. Now I'm sure most you are saying, "big deal, my family decorates cookies, tie-dyes t-shirts, spins clay pots, and dyes Easter eggs while all the while playing with play dough." (AHHH! My worst nightmare). However, I am not like that, so for me to say I let my girls decorate cookies...that's a big deal. It went SO well though and we just had a great time together as a family. There was no fighting or crying (from me or the kids) and everyone was laughing and happy. What a precious time. I loved it.





Okay, so I wouldn't take these to the neighbors or anything, but Jenna thinks they're beautiful. She did say one cute thing while we were make them. A new little girl started in the nursery today at church and I guess Jenna took it upon herself to be her "helper" (how helpful she really was I'm not sure). Anyway, she said to me while we were frosting the cookies, "I sure wish my little buddy Ivy could be here to frost these pink cookies with me." It was so cute!

Sleep Deprived...and getting grouchy

I am so tired. Stupid Olympics, I hate you. Why do you have to be so gripping and enthralling that I can't pry myself away from you to clean, eat or even sleep.

No wait, I didn't mean that. I'm sorry. I take it all back.

Stupid NBC, I hate you. Why do you have to start your broadcast at 7pm, but not start any of the good events until like 10pm? Then they don't finish until like 12:30 and of course I have to watch late night coverage.

Wait, I take that back. I don't hate you NBC, I guess it's not your fault.

Stupid China, I hate you. Why do you have to be on the other side of the world so that you totally screw up my Olympic watching schedule.

Oh well, it's only two weeks. I guess I'll survive. If you see me though, please don't make any mention of the bags under my eyes.

Cyndi Lauper Eat Your Heart Out!!

This past weekend me, my mom and my two sisters all went up to The Mall of America for a girls just wanna have fun kind of weekend. It started with an 8 hour road trip...during which I made my mom and sisters watch Season 1 of Heroes (I'll probably post more about my love of Heroes as the new season approaches). Here's a picture montage of the rest of the wild fun we had.

The laughing begins...we had just arrived at our hotel and parked by the nearest entrance to begin bringing our stuff in. "Oh yah," my mom remembers, "they said this entrance doesn't have an elevator." Me: "Well, what's our room number?" Mom: "Um...536..." Me: "WHAT THE!!!???" So, here's Mom and Nikki trying not to pee their pants as we haul our junk up 5 flights of stairs.

To fit right in with our Girls Just Wanna Have Fun weekend, New Kids on the Block (reunited) were preforming at the Mall that weekend (and Magic Johnson was there too for the Grand Opening of the Best Buy). We didn't really stay there very long. It was so loud that you could hardly even make out the words they were singing, plus, they were singing a bunch of new stuff. Who wants to hear that?
Dinner in the rainforest...cafe that is. Very cool.
Um....a slight distraction. Once my mom and sisters pried me away they made sure not to go back down that corridor again. (Funniest thing though, I'm standing on Nikki's back to get myself high enough to reach Edward. That board was like 7 feet in the air!)
We went to Nickelodeon Universe which is their indoor amusement park. I was actually pretty impressed with it, especially this ride which was unlike any ride I've ever ridden before. It was like a skate board that went back and forth in a half pipe and the seats you're strapped into spin the whole time you're going. It was crazy fun.Not to mention I got to meet some local celebrities. Talk about a highlight!

I really thought the Mall of America was tons of fun. I'm in the process of talking Matt into taking the girls and going back. I really felt like it was great fun for both adults and kids. Shopping for 2 days straight was pure Heaven. I can't think of three other people I'd rather spend a weekend with than my mom and sisters, I'm a pretty lucky gal.

Okay, so let's face it, I really wanted to get my "excited" face replaced as the first thing everyone saw when they clicked on my blog. I've had this picture uploaded for a while now but I forgot to post it. Let me just say...I love my new Kenmore Canister Vacuum. I got this new vacuum about 2 months ago almost ENTIRELY FREE. How, you ask. Well, I do an online points program called My Points. It's where you earn points for things you do and buy online. Anyway, between the gift cards I got from My Points and my Discover Cash Back rewards gift cards, this baby was practically free. My favorite thing about it is how EASY it is to attach different handles and brushes. I am seriously a vacuuming fool...and so is Jenna. The wand is so easy and light that she can vacuum like a pro. She doesn't do the lines straight though, and that bothers me too bad to leave it, so I have to revacuum over her sections (OCD, for real). Anyway, I just thought I'd share about my new wonder vacuum and how much I love it. Sure, Matt has to sleep on the couch now that there's not enough room in the bed anymore, but hey, we all make sacrifices right?

So Friday night was the Breaking Dawn Release party. Here's a picture montage of the exciting happenings.

This is me, so excited I can hardly stand it....it's only 2pm, still 8 hours till the party. Dang! I went out to dinner and a movie that night with my mom and wore my "Team Edward" shirt. She was embarrassed.
Finally! Party Time. Here we are (myself, my sister Kristen and my friend Jessica). This is at Barnes and Nobel where we started out our night of mad partying. In order to fit in with the demographic of the crowd (12 year old girls), I got mad at Kristen and Jessica for giving me a weird look and then they got mad at me because they heard that I told someone that I thought they thought they were all that. Well, after we cried and yelled and called each other names, we made up and agreed to be BFF's again and then we went out and bought a three way friendship necklace.
Here we are filling out our Twilight trivia sheets. An easy task for ones as learned in the ways of Twilight as we are.
This was a picture taken after we had been bitten by Edward and become Vampires. Sadly, I thought I would look better as a vampire, but I am still a chubby faced nerd.
After we danced the night away (not really) at Barnes and Nobel, we headed over to Wally World where the books were nearly $10 cheaper than at B&N. I'm nothing if not a total cheapskate. Here we are saying, "Holla!" to all the weak people at Wally world who had no idea why we were waiting in line and wearing twinner T-shirts at midnight on a Friday. Jeeze! Where have they been, under a rock?
Oh yah, and Wal-Mart had free cake too. That settles it. I take back every negative, white trash, hillbilly remark I've made about Wal-Mart.

Immediately following getting our books and scarfing down cake in record speed, we rushed home to begin our read-a-thon (well, Jessica went back to her house...tear). Anyway, I wont say anything about the book, because I don't want to taint anyone's reading of the book. But if you've read it...and you're finished...let's chat!
