Day at the pool

Well, today we went to the pool with some friends from church and I was a little nervous, to say the least. I brought Brooke with us because we were only going to be there one hour and much to my total surprise, she was great! She didn't cry at all. Jenna on the other hand had a hard time. The kiddie area had a big play structure with water spurting out all over the place and Jenna doesn't like to get splashed...at all! Anyway, at least she had fun crawling around in the van afterword, it was definitely her favorite part. Oh well, my philosophy is that you've got to get out and do stuff or else go insane. Sometimes things go well, sometimes they don't. But at least you got out of the house and gave it a whirl.

Simple Things...

Isn't it funny how something as simple as making cute bows can constitute a fun filled night?!? Well, tonight I spent part of my night making some bows for Jenna and Brooke and it was pretty fun. This one turned out to be my favorite. Also, thanks to my parents over abundant tomato plants and my friend Lisa's blog, I got daring and made some homemade salsa. All in all, it was a spicy, ribbony kind of night!

What a Hooligan!

Jenna is such a sweet and funny girl, most of the time, and most days I just find myself laughing at one thing after another with her. This picture is of her sneaking into Brooke's pack and play bassinet and getting caught red handed. Yesterday I noticed her lingering near my purse (which just happened to have Starbursts in it) and I asked her, "What are you doing?" She said, "Oh, I'm just standing in the kitchen." Knowing she was up to something I pretended to walk into the computer room, waited a couple of seconds and then, fully expecting to catch her red handed, I popped my head back out to check on her. She was still just standing by the table, staring straight at me with a mischievous look on her face. She said, "No watching me mommy, you just go in the puter (computer) room and stay there for a minute." I just started cracking up!

Then last night she was supposed to be in on her big girl bed going to sleep (we're still struggling with the transition from crib to toddler bed). Anyway, I was eating some cheez-itz on the couch and she strolls out of her bedroom and walks straight up to me and digs her hand into the box and says "oh, you've got some crackers! Thanks mommy." Grabs a handful and strolls back to her bedroom like she's running the show. Maybe these are those type of things where you "had to be there," but they sure made me laugh, which is better than any other emotion as far as I'm concerned!

This picture is of a bracelet I made for Jenna. She's loves picking out a bracelet every morning to go with her outfit (some days they match, some days they don't!) Anyway, today we went to Hobby Lobby (Praise to the Mother Ship!) and she got loads of compliments on her bracelet, which although directed to her, I totally ate up and allowed to feed my feeble ego!

Spiraling into a Hawaiian Depression

As we speak, no doubt my family are all lying on the warm sandy beaches of Hawaii, drinking a diet Coke and laughing at the dolphins as they frolic together in the water (in all reality they're asleep in their Hawaiian beds right now, but that doesn't fit into my scenario quite as nicely). While I sit here, contemplating a fun-filled day full of going to Wal-mart and mopping the kitchen floor. Despite these incongruities in our present reality, I can still smile with the upper hand, knowing that within the past 24 hours a volcano has erupted, a shark has attacked and no doubt cancer has been born onto the skin of those lying cloaked in the warmth of the Hawaii sun. Safe at home in Missouri I can be grateful that all I have to fear is...global warming, war, anthrax in my ebay shipment, a tornado, an escape convict from the prison 1 mile away...wait a minute, what am I saying...

I so wish I were in Hawaii right now!

Matt's Family's Visit

Matt's family came out and visited us the beginning part of this month and were able to be here for Brooke's blessing. It was really great to have some more family around for such a special time.

Jenna loved having her cousins here and was incredibly bored after they left, with just boring old mom to keep her company. She's adjusted back to life though, and now is looking forward to our trip out to Utah in August for Matt's sister Missy's wedding-where she will once again be in cousin heaven.

This is a picture of Jenna with Matt's sister Marcie. We were headed on our way to St. Louis to visit the Magic House (a children's museum) and Grant's Farm (a petting zoo/zoo type thing). We had loads of fun and Jenna talks about it non-stop.

Here Goes Nothing

A lot of my friends have blogs and I love reading them and hearing what their family is up to, so I've decided to take the plunge! Actually, I have a blog on my myspace account, but myspace is so last year (or so my sisters tell me). Starting this blog there are a few things I know I can count on:
1. Matt will never contribute a posting...he thinks this is really embarrassing and against all that is right and normal. :) For him, the internet is only useful for checking sports scores and reading articles about BYU football.
2. I will undoubtedly post mostly pictures of Brooke and Jenna (at least until I loose some more weight).
3. I will post a lot initially, and then like everything else in life, taper down to random posts when something exciting happens.

I love hearing about what everyone is up too, so if you have a blog that I don't know about...let me know!
