Halloween 2007

Well, all I have to say is, "Thank Heavens Halloween is over!" I just hate Halloween, I'm like the Scrooge of Halloween. I think my hatred stems from my childhood, when my mom would offer to pay us with either money, or bags of candy from the store not to go trick-or-treating. I can definitely see myself doing that in years to come. I don't like the fact that I have to spend $$$ on candy for a bunch of kids who I don't even know, that may or may not even live in my neighborhood and who are also most likely way to old to be trick or treating in the first place. Not to mention $$$ on costumes that they will wear for like 2 hours. I tried really hard this year to put my Scrooginess aside though, so Jenna could have a fun Halloween. I even let her and Matt carve a pumpkin (I HATE carving pumpkins!)

All ranting aside...here are pictures from our super fun Halloween (that was sarcastic).

Okay people, mark this date on your calendars, me punching holes in the Dora pumpkin was my first (and probably last) pumpkin adventure. I thought the pumpkin turned out pretty darn cute though, as far as pumpkins go.

Jenna was really scared to go Trick-or-Treating, but once some friends from the ward came over and we tagged along with them, she warmed up to the idea a little bit. She just kept on saying, "Thank you so much mommy, this is just so much fun!" She was really enthralled with the idea that she could just run from house to house and they would give her candy just for saying "Trick or treating" (she adds the -ing, I've tried to correct her, it doesn't work). Anyway, after about 6 houses she had reached her max and told me "I've had just about enough for tonight mommy." We headed home with a few suckers, one bag of Skittles, a pack of smarties and one spider ring. Not what I would have considered the best loot when I was younger, but for Jenna she was in 7th Heaven.

CONGRATS NIKKI & EVAN!

This is the WATERFALL where Evan proposed to Nikki yesterday. They are now officially engaged. No date is set yet, but probably next Jan-March sometime. All I have to say to Evan is, "Welcome to our freaky family. If you can handle us, you're a better man than most." Oh, and one more thing, "I am the coolest one in the family, hands down." ;) I'm going to be the youngest, hottest Matron of Honor there ever was!

Happy 28th Birthday Matt!!

Today was Matt's 28th birthday and boy did Jenna have a fun day! ;) We went out to dinner at a restaurant called D. Rose and then came back home and opened presents and had cake. Jenna also made Matt a birthday card and sent a video of herself singing happy birthday to him while he was at work today. She's not the greatest at keeping presents a secret. Like last night at dinner she told him, "We got a game for you daddy!" Then she started crying because she felt bad for spoiling the surprise, so we just gave him his game last night. After he opened it she said, "And tomorrow we'll give you your shirt!" At least she didn't mention the pants that went with it. There was still one surprise for tonight. Oh well, Matt didn't mind and it gave us a good laugh.

Yes, Matt is a 28 year old man who requested to have a funfetti cake for his birthday. I would have made anything...pie, cheese cake, trifle...but no, this grown man wanted funfetti. (Incidentally, that is the same cake Jenna wanted for her 2nd birthday!) Well, in Matt's defense, funfetti is pretty yummy whether you're 2 or 28!

Yes, baseball is THAT boring

Brooke only took one 45 minute nap today...which is about 3 hours less than she normally sleeps on a day time napping basis. Anyway, this was at about 7pm and she is either really tired or just bored from watching baseball with Matt. I tend to think it's the latter.

Lazy...I mean Crazy Sundays

This is what I came across after I got done showering and getting ready for church this morning and I thought it was just too funny, therefore, blogworthy. Curlers in her hair, dress off so she didn't accidentally pee in it or get it dirty and wearing her "boy" underwear because all of her cute Dora ones were in the wash. Yep, that's pretty much Jenna.

Jenna: Careful! These are very expensive and Mommy wont buy new ones!

Jenna is pretending to type of the top of a toy truck, I ask, "What are you doing?"

One not so funny for the week:

Jenna fell from the top rung of her playhouse rock wall (probably about 8 feet off the ground). Miraculously, she only scrapped her stomach on the rock climbing pegs on the way down, but didn't break any bones or anything serious. She's not allowed to climb on that side of her playhouse because it's too advanced for her, so after this little incident I asked her if she was going to play on that in the future and said, "I think I probably will." At least she was honest.

Book Club

Last night Book Club was at my house and I thought it was lots of fun (if I do say so myself). It was interesting to hear everyone's differing opinions about the books. We read the Twilight series, by Stephenie Meyer and while I was absolutely addicted, others were only luke warm. Oh well. The party was still great fun. Thanks to all who came and made it a blast!

These were some cookies I made that are supposed to look like a mouth with bloody vampire fangs. Matt didn't really see my vision on these ones.
Here's Tisha and Jessica (two die hard fans like myself) sporting their "Jacob" and "Edward" temporary tattoos that came in book 2. I gave mine to my sister or else I would have TOTALLY been wearing one!

All in a day's work...

Some days are just funnier than others. Yesterday, for instance, all this funniness happened and it wasn't even 1pm yet.

I'm giving Brooke a bath and Jenna is trying to climb on the bathroom counter with her church shoes on that have 1 inch heals:
Me: Jenna, I don't want you to climb up there, that's not safe.
Jenna: I'll be obedient Mommy, as soon as I climb up on the counter and dance for a minute.
Me: No, I want you to obey right now, otherwise you could fall and crack your head.
Jenna: Don't you mean cranium, Mommy?

Later...

Jenna is eating lunch and flinging her Chicken Noodle Soup everywhere:
Jenna: Mommy my noodles are doing flips into the bowl.
Me: I don't think that's a great idea.
Jenna: I think you're mistaken Mommy, because that is a great idea.
