Move over Cosmo & make way for Truman

Well, I have great news to announce!! After many months of relentless interviewing, Matt has finally been offered a position at the University of Missouri! He's been offered a job as a financial analyst in the Ear, Nose and Throat department and we are just SO EXCITED. It is an answer to many, many prayers and we are very grateful.

**Please note: Despite the heading of this post, we are in NO WAY changing collegiate loyalties and will remain devoted (yet often disappointed) BYU Cougar fans for life. Matt will undoubtedly have to suffer greatly as he will be forced to fake his Mizzou allegiance and pretend to support Mizzou athletics. For this, we are greatly sorrowed but must consider that the potential benefits of this job far out way the rather insidious thought of donning the oppressive Gold and Black of Mizzou. ;)

Pringle Pilferer

So, normally when I take a shower in the morning, that's Jenna favorite part of the day because that's when she gets to watch a tv show (normally Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Dora). Well today, when I finished showering and went out to check on her, this was the scene I happened upon!

I keep the Pringles (along with any other yummy snacks) on the top shelf of our very high pantry. Apparently she sneaked into the pantry, scaled the shelves and grabbed the Pringles. But the truly amazing part is that I hadn't opened them yet. That didn't stop her from ripping off that aluminum seal thingy and digging in (I can barely even get that thing off sometimes). Anyway, when I walked out and caught her, she merely held out a Pringle in my direction and said, "Want a Pringle mommy?" No sense of shame that girl! It just so happened, that I did want a Pringle, so we sat and ate Pringles and finished watching Dora. :)

Brief episode of ranting...

So there's something I just have to get off my chest.

I've been reading a lot of books lately that seem to be tending toward the "romance" theme and most of them are quite contemporary. Then, in what seemed to me a very stark contrast, I read Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen, which was written in like 1814 or something. The thing that has been really bugging me since then, is that I feel like today's romance novels are so unrealistic in their portrayal of life and falling in love. It was my experience anyway, that all these romantic novels succeeded in doing was making me feel really depressed because my life wasn't near so romantic nor was my courtship a whirlwind of unrequited love and endless pledges of true and undying devotion.

Reading Jane Austen, a love story from 200 years ago, was much more realistic to me. It was about growing to love a person and learning to cherish all of their good points and forget about their weaknesses. In modern Hollywood and novels, I think there is so much emphasis on the idea of love at first sight and whirlwind romances that it's really detrimental to those of us who live in the real world, with real lives...we love, yes, but "I'd rather kill myself than spent a minute without you"...no.

Am I crazy?

Internet Outage!

Of all the brutal injustice in the world...I'm on vacation for a week and then I get home and find out my internet is going to be down for almost a week. I'm so cut off...disconnected from the world! We got back from UT late Saturday night. The trip was really fun and I'd love to say more, but I'm on borrowed time (freeloading the internet at my parent's while Jenna and Brooke run wild). I'll write more when our internet is back up and running again, until then, think of me as I go crazy living like a savage, internetless and all alone (how did people survive back then, like in the 80's?)

Jenna's Prayer

Jenna's prayer tonight...

Dear Heavenly Father, thank me that I could go to church today and go to nursery and not freak out...pause...if you're happy and you know it...

Jenna! Focus!

I'm being rude to Heavenly Father and Jesus.

Yes you are, now lets finish your prayer. Please bless that you can be kind to Brooke.

Please bless me to be kind to Brookie-poo and if I don't I'll go in my crib till I can be a sweet girl. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Let's hope this prayer is answered!!

Jelly Belly Mutiny

Who knew that going to the mall to get some Jelly Belly's could turn into night of the living dead?!? I needed some Jelly Belly's for an object lesson I'm doing for sharing time on Sunday, so I thought it would be a fun little trip if the whole family went to Mr. Bulky's in the mall and I got some Jelly Belly's and Jenna could pick out a little candy for herself. Sometimes in life, however, what you imagine in your head just does not translate smoothly into reality. Brooke was crying the whole time and Jenna was being wild and singing nursery songs at the top of her lungs as she ran down the corridors of the mall. Never has the act of buying candy been so stressful and unenjoyable...who'd have thought! Of course, to put things in perspective, as soon as we got in the car Jenna said to me, "Thanks Mommy, that was fun!" Fun for who, I thought!
